IB Tutor
Project Overview
IB students juggle six subjects, Internal Assessments, the Extended Essay and TOK — and
finding a tutor who genuinely knows the IB curriculum is hard. The client wanted a dedicated
platform that connects IB DP and MYP learners with vetted IB specialists and makes
booking a live class as simple as booking a ride.
We designed and built IB Tutor end to end: subject-wise tutor discovery, availability-based
class booking, secure payments, live online classes, and dedicated dashboards for
students, tutors and administrators — delivered as a mobile-first progressive web app that
installs to a phone’s home screen.

Challenges
A tutoring marketplace lives or dies on trust and timing. Students need confidence in a tutor before they pay; tutors need a calendar that never double-books; and both need class links that simply work.
IB-specific discovery
Matching by IB programme, subject and HL/SL level — not generic “maths tutor” search.
Scheduling across time zones
IB families are global. Slots, reminders and class times must be correct in every student’s and tutor’s local time.
Booking without friction
Slot holds, payment and confirmation in one short flow so seats aren’t lost or double-booked midcheckout
App feel, no app store
Students live on their phones; the platform had to install and feel native without separate iOS and Android builds.
Solution
We built IB Tutor as a progressive web app on a single booking engine. Tutors publish availability once; the engine converts it into bookable, time-zone-aware slots, holds a slot during checkout, and confirms it the moment payment succeeds — sending the class link and reminders to both sides. Role-based dashboards keep each user focused: students see upcoming classes and history, tutors manage their calendar and earnings, and admins verify tutors, manage subjects and track every booking and payment.
