A multi-site clinic group losing $2.4M a year in revenue from missed and last-minute cancelled appointments.
With 8 clinic locations and 80,000 registered patients, the group was running on paper appointment cards and a 10-year-old SMS reminder system. No-show rates had climbed to 22% — costing the business $2.4M annually in lost billable appointments.
They needed a patient-facing app that was simple enough for elderly users, powerful enough to integrate with 3 different EHR systems, and secure enough to meet HIPAA requirements — all without disrupting daily clinical workflows.

A HIPAA-compliant patient app — simple enough for any age, powerful enough for any clinician.
We ran user research sessions with patients aged 25–78 before writing a single line of code. The entire UX was designed around the least tech-savvy user — then tested, iterated, and validated with real patients across all 8 sites.
What we built :
Research & UX design — weeks 1–3
Patient interviews across age groups, journey mapping, accessibility audit of competitors, and 3 rounds of prototype testing before dev started.

Core app development — weeks 4–10
React Native app with appointment management, smart reminders with personalised timing, medication tracker, and secure messaging — all HIPAA-compliant from the ground up.
→ Beta app on TestFlight + Google Play internal
EHR integration layer — weeks 8–13
HL7 FHIR integration with Epic, Cerner, and the clinic's custom EHR — real-time appointment sync, patient record access, and two-way clinical messaging.

Pilot & App Store launch — weeks 14–16
2-week pilot across 2 sites with 500 patients. Iterated on feedback. Passed Apple and Google review first time. Full 8-site rollout at launch.
